Valentines Day Gifts ~ Be Original

Valentines Gift ideas

It’s not too soon to start thinking about VALENTINES DAY. I believe you don’t have to spend a lot of money to let your lov-ah know you care. I like the idea of fun & meaningful trinkets to celebrate this silly holiday. I’m the girl who hates red roses & heart-shaped jewelry. Cliché Red Roses – blah, anyone can call a florist, some guys seem to think they’re obligated to buy them on February 14th. It’s not creative OR sustainable. Instead, how about going to her favorite local bakery & getting few cookies/cupcakes/etc., wrapped with a pretty bow? How about finding a local chocolatier & hand-picking treats you know she’d love? If your gal is sticking to her New Years’s diet (God love her!) pick a healthy Edible Arrangement.

Here’s a few ideas if you want to avoid food: Alex & Ani have a TON of great bangles — the more you wear, the cooler they look so buy one or a whole bunch! Hanky Panky makes the best undies if you want to add a little romance to the evening. Speaking of romance – how ‘bout just a GREAT bottle from your local wine shop.

Some people are on a budget, if yours is extra tight – you can STILL have fun. Being thoughtful doesn’t have to break the bank: who doesn’t love PEZ –or– the infamous heart-shaped NECCO Conversation Hearts? It’s not about spending money or boring roses…. it’s finding your own way to say “hey, thanks for putting up with smelly cigars, guys night, football, golf, my family, the friend you hate & my sweaty gym clothes; today & every day, I ♥ you”.

***My Picks: Boston-based picks ~ but every city has cool local shops where you can find equally great stuff.***

My Local Picks:

Kickass Cupcakes (Somerville, MA)
Harbor Sweets (Salem, MA)
NECCO (Revere, MA)
Dancing Deer (Boston, MA)

Ladies – the gift list for your man is on the way… check back next week!

I am having fun changing the numbers between your picture and the key; do you know what I mean or do I have to be specific?
Nothing says love to a guy better than beer or single malt; well, maybe something.

  2. My daughter LOVES pez and candy hearts.
